Shkodra, Full Day Trip from Tirana
Shkodra city is an important cultural and economical center of Albania. Shkodra is also known as the center of the Albanian Catholicism and a perfect proof of the fact that all different religions can adjoin in one country. The city was founded in the 4th century B.C. and for a long time had an important protecting role, it protected the trade routes on the rivers of Drin and Buna. It became the capital of Illyria in the 3d century B.C. Than it was conquered by the Romans and than was a part of the medieval Serbian principality till it was gained by the Turks in 1479. The main sight-seeing place in Shkoder is the castle of Rozafa, which was built in the 3d century B.C. Shkoder is truly the soul of Albania with its narrow street and ancient houses that are united with stone walls and modern buildings. It is the place worth visiting to feel the real Albania.

Meat Shack Lunch in the Tirana Highlands
This is a flexible day trip, built around lunch at one of our favourite village restaurants!
In the morning you have the option to stop at Bunk'Art 1 (tickets approx €5), and to take the Dajti Ekspres cable car up Mt Dajti (approx €8; the minivan comes up by road). If you choose, you can also climb to the peak of Mt Dajti (about 1h up, and 45 minutes down).
From Dajti we'll drive on through beautiful countryside to our lunch stop, a small wooden shack owned by the lovely Dëfrim and Hilda. Nowadays most village restaurant close to Tirana have been refurbished to a gangster aesthetic, but Dëfrim and Hilda keep the place as simple as possible, and let their food do the talking.
Veal is the speciality of the house - the cows are raised on Dëfrim's little farm, and cooked in the traditional saç method. If you prefer lamb, goat or chicken, no worries - just give us 48 hours advance notice.
