The Bijagua corridor sits on the Caribbean slope between the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes, about two hours inland from the Guanacaste coast, and the bird list there has almost nothing in common with the dry forest visitors see from the hotels. Toucans are not birds of this coast — they are birds of that forest, and in Bijagua all three of the region's species are regular, close enough at the feeder gardens for real photographs rather than record shots.
