Elafonissi is located 76km west of Chania in the southwestern most point of Crete. Elafonisi is an oblong, which often "breaks" in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island.
Elafonissi is a “Natura 2000” protected area. The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers (like-cedar trees). The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals from the area. Exotic beach with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken shells.

After a relaxing 1-hour ferry ride across the turquoise waters, we reach the stunning island of Gramvousa. Here you’ll have two full hours to explore the famous Venetian fortress perched high on the hill, swim in the crystal-clear waters, or simply relax on the golden beach surrounded by wild, untouched beauty. Next, we sail to the world-famous Balos Lagoon, a true paradise of white sands and shallow, turquoise waters. At around 16:30, we depart from Balos and cruise back to Kissamos Port, arriving around 17:45, where our bus will be waiting to comfortably take you back to Chania after a full day of memories.

Full-Day Santorini Island Trip from Crete

The ferry ride takes approx. 1 hour and 55 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes from Heraklion, or about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Rethymno, depending on weather. Upon arrival, staff with signs displaying bus numbers will greet you and guide you to your vehicle.
Your first stop is the famous village of Oia, known for its stunning views and traditional Cycladic architecture. You’ll have around 1.5 hours to explore. On busy days, the tour may begin in Fira instead.
Next, the excursion continues to Fira, the capital of Santorini. Stroll through its quaint streets, visit local shops, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Caldera. While in Fira, you can join an optional Volcano tour (extra cost), offered from mid-May. It includes a boat trip and a swim in the hot springs.

This is an amazing boat trip with lunch and visit to the island of Spinalonga. Spinalonga is a magnificent island with fortresses dating from the Venetian period. It is an island of legends, a triumph to survival in the early 20th century from the scourge of leprosy, now a place of great archaeological and historical significance. As you cruise through Mirabello bay you feel the sea breeze and have memorable view of the land’s beauty. On board you have the opportunity to listen to information about the places you see. The first stop is Spinalonga where you stay for 1,5 hour in order to make the tour. We give you a booklet with information and a map of the island in order to have a self-guided tour. Depart Rethymno at approximately 07:45 and travel by bus along the new national road towards the westernmost tip of Crete. Pass the bay of Souda and the former Cretan capital of Chania before your arrival in Kissamos.
Upon arrival, climb aboard a boat and cross to Balos Bay at the northernmost tip of the peninsula. Relax on the 1-hour boat trip,and get 2.5 hours at Balos Bay to enjoy the soft white sands and unique blue and green waters of the lagoon.
Enjoy approximately 1.5 hours at peace on Gramvousa Island, and then take a 1-hour boat ride back to Kissamos. Upon arrival, continue to Rethymno by bus at the end of the laid-back tour.
