Tuna fishing is a real challenge and one of the most thrilling types of sea fishing in Cyprus. Starting in early July, large schools of albacore tuna move into the coastal waters near Limassol, actively hunting flying fish and small squid. This is the perfect time for trolling — a technique where lures are dragged behind a moving boat.
When a tuna strikes, it’s unforgettable. A powerful hit, a sudden pull, and an intense fight begins. These fish can weigh 20–30 kg, and reeling one in requires strength, patience, and skill.
