The Abu Simbel Temple is actually a complex of two temples, the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Small Temple of Nefertari. The temple features four massive statues of Ramesses II, each standing at 20 meters tall, at the entrance. The Small Temple of Nefertari is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and features six statues at the entrance, four of which depict Nefertari and two of which depict Ramesses II. Transfer to a jetty on the Nile River, where you’ll board a boat for Sohail Island. Depending on river conditions and the weather, you’ll travel in a traditional felucca sail boat, or in a modern motorboat. Take in views of the Nile riverbanks on the way to Sohail Island, passing Elephantine Island along the way. Disembark on Sohail Island, and visit a traditional Nubian house to learn about the history and culture of the Nubian people over a glass of welcome tea.
