Shared Day Trip from Kefalonia around Ithaca island
We meet at 8:30am in the yacht and set sail for our first stop Aspros Gialos Beach (or Polis beach as an alternative). We then sail to Kioni village, a neoclassical gem flowing amphitheatrically down to the sea. While sailing north, along Ithaca’s coast we see on the other hand side (left) the popular Fiscardo village in Kefalonia. After lunch, we keep on our sailing to the east coast of Ithaca and see the magnificent Vathy bay as well as other charming beaches. Starting early, heading west, we reach the port of Kissamos. Here we take our boat for approximately a 1 hour pleasant sail along the coastline. Arriving in the port of the ex-pirate island of Gramvousa we hear how, during the Turkish occupation, the residents of the island started looting passing boats thus giving the island its pirate reputation. Don’t miss out on a visit to the Venetian castle on top of a steep rock as this is one of the most impressive castles in Greece.
There is plenty of time for swimming or lunch on board. Our boat then departs for the Blue Lagoon of Balos, a shallow and warm water lagoon which brings to mind similar lagoons in the Caribbean. The National (or Royal) Garden is a luxurious park in the center of Athens, covering an area of 15.5 hectares. The gardens were planted for Queen Amalia back in 1839.
The garden practically surrounds the Parliament building. By the way, the changing of the guard takes place near the institution every hour - a spectacle worth watching. There are more than 15,000 species of plants on the territory of the national garden. The park is very well-kept, it has a living corner with geese, peacocks and goats.
There are also several ponds with huge fish and turtles. There is a playground for children. You can have a snack in the park cafe or just on a bench in the shade of the trees, or even on the lawn.
