Our day at Roatan's tropical island starts with a sightseeing experience enjoying the lush island and exploring from the cruise port or resort to the north side of the island to the Eco Wildlife Natural Park. Where you will have the opportunity to learn about the sloths, friendly capuchin monkeys, macaws, black iguana & more mammals, also you will learn of our local living & history.
After the amazing wildlife adventure, our guide will escort you to the "Mayak" chocolate factory and then to the craft market, an optional visit to the Rum & Cake factory for another tasting experience with delicious samples. This shelter rotates the sloths that travelers come across around every 4 hours so they are always well-rested!
We will visit communities from different ethnic groups. A true local myself, I'm part of one of 9 different ethnic groups on our island, which include people from Latin America, Africa, and Europe. We'll drive through Los Fuertes, the biggest Latino community in Roatan, and visit Punta Gorda, where the Garifuna community lives. Some Garifonas start their day fishing in the early morning, and return hours later to sell their catches!
