4 Hours Northern Lights Private Luxury Tour
YOUR GUIDE
Our expert guides are familiar with the area and will take you to the best places to see the lights, using information from a network of magnetometers situated around the world and the most up-to-date reports of the Icelandic Met Office.
WHAT MAKES THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ?Northern Lights or Aurora borealis are created by collisions of oxygen and nitrogen atoms in the Earth’s atmosphere with the electrons released by the sun during geomagnetic storms, making them notoriously difficult to predict with even state-of-the-art meteorological equipment. In Icelandic tradition their appearance was associated with the ride of the Valkyries, while Greeks and Romans believed that it was the sister of Helios the Sun God riding a multi-colored chariot across the sky and expectant Icelandic mothers refused to look at their beauty, because their beauty was so profound that it would cause the baby to be born cross-eyed.
