The Rock of Cashel is fabled to have been created by St Patrick himself, the Rock predates this and was a seat of high importance in Ireland. Converted to a christian site in medieval times, it is dotted with structures almost 1,000 years old and a visit here is really a wonderful experience.
From the Rock, we travel nearby to the medieval Hore Abbey and learn a little more about its development and influence on Irish history throughout the ages.
From Hore Abbey, enjoy some time in Cashel town itself known for its great food and atmosphere before we continue to Cahir Castle. This Castle was used in the Film Braveheart and stands remarkably well preserved. One has the option to enjoy a guided tour, go self guided or perhaps enjoy a walk along the riverside before we return to Cork. Travel time from Cahir to Cork is 1 hour 15 minutes.
