You'll also get a glimpse into the craftsmanship behind these intricate patterns as you explore the workshop.
With your custom tote bag in hand, you’ll visit Higo Hosokawa Garden, a peaceful Japanese garden with seasonal beauty all year round. In Hiroshima—a city known for Japanese sake, traditional calligraphy brushes, and a story of peace—this experience takes place in a historic storehouse at Kamotsuru Sake Brewery’s first brewery in Saijo, a space not normally open to the public.
You will practice calligraphy using a special Kumano brush crafted from Hiroshima’s hibaku (survivor) trees, symbolizing resilience and peace.
You will complete your own artwork on a shikishi board to take home.
A professional calligrapher will write your chosen word or name onto the label of a premium Junmai Daiginjo sake bottle, creating a one-of-a-kind souvenir.

Unlike the ones you see in store displays, mandarins grown on the trees are packed with natural sweetness and a balanced, refreshing acidity, offering a variety of tastes and aromas.
You can take them home to use in sweets or cooking, or simply enjoy a mandarin in a warm room during winter—it’s absolutely delightful!
