New Orleans St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 Walking Tour
Local award-winning author and historian Sally Asher will take you on a tour of a famous New Orleans cemetery that she wrote about her in book "Stories from the St. Louis Cemeteries of New Orleans." On this walking tour, you'll learn about burial practices, types of tombs, and visit the graves of some of the city's notable (and notorious) citizens including the hunchbacked photographer who secretly photographed prostitutes, the woman behind the quirky castle, the famed architect whose ship went down with over a 100 prostitutes and circus performers, and legendary chefs who collectively advanced the Civil Rights movement, restored horse racing in the city, and (for better or worse) introduced the turducken to the U.S. The tour takes an 1:15 and is under a mile. Sally is passionate about revealing New Orleans' unusual, outrageous, and untold stories, believing history isn’t about merely listing dates and facts, but the gentle collision of truth and narrative – scandals and all!

This fast-paced tour is ideal if you are short on time and want to see as much of the city as possible, or if you have taken several longer tours and just wish to see the highlights of the Garden District. It's a fast-paced fun excursion through this unique and historic neighborhood. We invite you to spend some time in the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. As you walk the streets of the Vieux Carré, you will learn the stories of Louisiana's Creoles. Louisiana is unique among regions of the United States. The fascinating stories of notable Creoles (West Africans, Native Americans and Europeans) will shed light on the development of the culture that sets us apart from the rest of the American South.
Louisiana is part of the southern United States, but culturally it is the northernmost region of the Caribbean. This tour is an exploration of Louisiana Creole, an exploration of the culture that gave birth to jazz and zydeco, gumbo and jambalaya.

At Whitney Plantation's Louisiana Museum of Slavery, see the harsh realities and raw historical facts of a dark side of American history. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with a passionate, professional guide to explore the many building styles prevalent in this neighborhood, ranging from Greek Revival, Italianate, and Victorian. Hear the stories of the 19th century architects and families who made their mark on this historic area, and see the homes of former and current celebrities.
Also included in this tour is a short stop into Lafayette Cemetery where visitors learn about the fascinating local above-ground burial customs. Starting with a brief introduction to the history of New Orleans Cemeteries, visitors will be treated to a discussion of the various styles and types of tombs seen in this cemetery. Your group will be no more than 14 people allowing for a more intimate, personal experience.

The Mardi Gras School of Cooking does small, intimate hands-on classes in the French Quarter. Classes are more like a dinner party with friends. Feel welcomed into our kitchens by the Chefs themselves. From the moment you arrive until you roll out the door our Chefs are friendly, personable and entertaining. Not to mention their culinary skills are impeccable.
