Private Tour of the Gilded Age City around Madison Square
What visitors will take away from this tour was just how small the Gilded Age city of New York was. Distrcits for shopping and theaters, for the upper and middle classes, were all a block or so away from each other. Not only that, but the apartment building, department store and office tower were all new innovations, and at their social heights in the same place around Madison Square just as telephones and electicty were coming on the scene.
Most fascinating will be the proximity all of these venues, from the carriage trade shops and the homes of familes like the Roosevelts, Astors, and Schermerhorns, were to the blocks of illiicit, often raucous nightlife activity in the old Tenderloin just a few blcoks away.
This is a tour de force of the Gilded Age City of NEw York around Madison Square.

A September 11 Survivor's World Trade Center Walking Tour
I'm a 9/11 survivor, a member of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund. You will have my own experience of that day and the weeks afterward. After the attacks, I volunteered at what was then known as Ground Zero. I organized guides to give free walking tours to visiting first responders during the aftermath. After all, this is a deeply historic area of 400-year-old New York City. Colonial, Revolutionary War and early American historic spots are all around here. The tour begins in a church attended by George Washington.
You will see:
The Memorial Pools in the exact location of the Twin Towers
The Eleven Tears Memorial at American Express
A memorial for survivors who have since died of 9/11 syndrome
A sculpture that honors still-living survivors
You will be taken to places most guides don't know about: scenes where you can still see lingering damage from September 11 that has never been removed. It's still in plain sight, if you know where to look. Allow me to show you.

The Art of Stories: A Literary Tour in the Metropolitan Museum
The Art of Stories: A Literary Adventure in the Metropolitan Museum of Art
We’re all storytellers, and we live in a world of stories.
All our interactive museum tours are inspired by stories, and we’re pleased to present our newest tour, a story…about stories themselves. “The Art of Stories” looks at tales of the Met, backstories of the works of art, narratives set in the museum, and the origin of stories themselves, seen through the perspective of works of art. From myths to fairy tales, fables to epic quests, the tour will transport participants to a cave full of treasure and heroes on daring quests, a sword in a stone and a girl who loses her shoe. We’ll see how stories can take us to other worlds, shift our viewpoint of the world we’re in….and sometimes literally save someone’s life.
