Custom Copper Lamp Making Class - Brooklyn, New York
Our Copper Lamp workshop gives you the tools, materials, and inspiration to craft an actual working lamp and light up your life with a funky awesome Edison bulb. If you want visitors to your home to know you made this lamp with your own two hands, you are going to have to find a way to work it into conversation organically, because it isn’t self-evident.
Many in the Craftsman Ave community consider the Copper Lamp workshop to be the “gateway” into maker life. Be warned: You are likely to catch the maker fever, and the only cure is more workshops!
Not only will you play with shiny copper pipes and manipulate them into the design of your choice (this is where a childhood spent among building sets will pay dividends), but you will also control the power of fire as you solder together the copper joints of your creation.
This is a “beginner” level workshop, meaning that no knowledge of copper pipe fitting and soldering is required, but the sky is the limit for your creative design!

Jenůfa at the Metropolitan Opera House Ticket
Jenůfa takes place in a remote Moravian village in the last decades of the 19th century. Janáček’s focus on common people with real problems connects his work conceptually to what Puccini, Mascagni, and others were doing in the verismo operas of Italy at roughly the same time.
The score features one of opera’s most evocative uses of the orchestra. It is the sung music, however, that makes Jenůfa indelible. Because the vocal writing is so closely related to the Czech language, even audiences who don’t understand Czech can appreciate the acoustical resonance of the original setting. Among the notable vocal highlights are the Kostelnička’s Act II monologue, tracing her mental gyrations with both drama and subtlety, and Jenůfa’s final narrative, in which the music takes the audience through the transformative process of forgiveness as words alone never could.
