History of Paris from Antiquity to the Middle Ages
Let yourself be guided through the explanations of a Lecturer Guide who will show you how Lutetia , a secondary city of the Roman Empire transformed itself into the royal capital of France and became Paris a leading city in the Middle Ages. The programme of the visit
_ the arenas of Lutetia , emblematic place of Parisian antiquity.
_ we will then go to the words of Cluny which demonstrates the diversity of ancient buildings we have left in the capital.
_ it is then that we cross the seine to go to the Ile de la Cité: the heart of Paris. Here I would tell you about the palace of the city where the Merovingian kings occasionally settled and then the Capetians permanently. It is also home to Notre Dame de Paris , one of the major cathedrals in history.
_ then we will reach the right bank , where the economic power of the city has developed: Town Inn , Sens Inn , Rue des rosiers and Place des Vosges.

Finally, we will follow the Seine, passing under the Pont Neuf and the Pont des Arts.
Wine Your Way Through the Marais
Visiting the Marais through the perspective of a wine glass provides an entirely different view of this historic neighbourhood. Starting in the Joseph Mignaret park, we discover its hidden vineyard and the medieval history of the Marais. Once home to two kings, the quarter is dotted with the private mansions of the aristocracy who wanted to be close to the king. We cross the Roman road to the East that linked the Bastille to the Louvre, and pause a moment in a medieval alley to talk about life in the middle-ages. We then visit the largest extant section of the Philippe Auguste wall, tracing the wine history of the quarter, and exploring the area where Charles V had his royal residence and vineyard, stopping along the way to taste a sparkling wine. Like many other quarters of the city, the Marais has been home to a number of famous personalities, whose lives we also recount. We end with a blind tasting of 3 living wines, rustic fermented bread and exquisite cheeses in a wine bar.
