We’ll start our hike early in the morning so we can enjoy the sunlight shining on the snow-capped Veronica and the entire Vilcabamba mountain range. The hike will start with an ascent and then descend toward the high plateau, offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks along the way to the Huchuyqosqo Archaeological Site. This site was once an Inca palace, featuring large structures made of stone and adobe built on the mountaintop, with the sky as a backdrop and streams on either side. After a brief rest and lunch, we’ll continue across open country and then zigzag downhill along one side of the mountain. Our transportation will be waiting for us in the village of Lamay to take us back to Cusco.
