our tour is offered at the heart of a subtropical forest through private access and completely away from crowds. Following old trails left by our ancestors, we will arrive at the majestic Tanama River. Huge limestone formations and thousands of springs that surround the Tanama river walls will be our scenery as we hike during our excursion. During our trek, we will visit and explore the river banks, and caves while you are refreshing yourself at the Tanama River water. Immersed in our tour, interpretation, and story-telling will give you a more complete experience. After trekking through the river, we will retur tubing down the river in the calm waters until we reach more natural pools. We welcome you in exploring this hidden gem and offering you a locally rich and truly unique adventure.
El Yunque Rainforest and Waterfall Guided Tour
Upon arriving in Ceiba, we will commence with a 25-30 minute hike, which includes a brief river trek. Once we enter the outskirts of the forest, you will climb through rocks and trees to reach the pristine natural pools and waterfalls. Here, you can also swing from a rope or cliff jump. We will spend some time here before proceeding to the next stop, an advanced hike to higher natural pools that lead to exciting natural waterslides. We then return through the same path, with the option to swim part of the way.
Throughout this excursion, your certified guide will share important information about the only tropical rainforest in the US Forest System, as well as intriguing facts about Puerto Rico's culture and history, while ensuring you have a safe, enjoyable, and informative experience.
After the tour concludes, we will stop at a local restaurant for a late lunch (food cost not included) before returning to San Juan or your initial meeting point.

Riders zip through the upper canopy of the trees using a cable and a safety rope, witnessing the stunning rainforest scenery all around. The 2 stops on this tour: Cueva del Indio & Charco Azul Canyon are both amazing yet completely different from one another. Cueva del Indio (Indian Cave) is a Seaside Cave that we go inside but to get there we have to walk over the breathtaking 7 arches rock formations. The views of the island and the sea from this point is something to wander at. Then we go into the cave itself which immediately transports you into the past, way before the era of Colombus. The Tainos carved the entire walls of the cave and we get to see it up close. Charco Azul is perhaps even more amazing. These are river caves, formed by the passage of a river beating against the stone for millions of years. We swim thru caves, hike and cliff jump at the end (optional). The entire day is filled with fun and much adventure.
