Cape Town Shore Excursion: Small Group Table Mountain & City
Our drive to the city centre takes us past famous landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope built in 1666 by the Dutch East India Company; City Hall, a baroque building; and the Grand Parade. We will pass St. George’s Cathedral, the Company Gardens, and the Bo-Kaap, which means “Above Cape” because of its location up against the slopes of Table Mountain. In the early 18th Century, thousands of slaves from Java, Ceylon and other Far Eastern regions were brought to Cape Town. After slavery was abolished, their descendants, known as the Cape Malays, settled here. Our route then leads us to Kloof Nek and the magnificent Table Mountain. We’ll ascend to the top (weather permitting) by the revolving cable car. Here, we’ll see wild flowers and the famous silver tree, and marvel at a bird’s-eye view of the city and its beaches. On a clear day it is even possible to see Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned on one side and Cape Point on the other.
Richards Bay Shore Excursion: Small Group Hluhluwe & St Lucia
This excursion offers the opportunity to spend the full day in the Hluhluwe & Imfolozi National Park, the oldest Game Reserve in South Africa, and situated in the heart of Zululand. After departing the harbour, spend the morning on a game drive in search of the wildlife.
This reserve is host to the Big 5 – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino – as well as many other exciting wildlife species. The area is also renowned for its exceptional birding.
After a light picnic lunch we depart for the village of St Lucia, where we and enjoy a 2 hour cruise on Lake St Lucia, one of South Africa’s 10 World Heritage sites. Stellenbosch Jonkershoek nature reserve waterfall hike and 4x4
Access to the start of the trails is often a challenge if you are not among the first 20 cars allowed in and a high clearance vehicle is recommended. We offer a 4x4 ride in a safari vehicle from Lanzerac Hotel into the reserve to the start of the trail.
This way more distance can be covered than by walking to the start of the trail, which will add an extra 10km of jeep track to the trail.
DUE TO TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE IN THE RESERVE, WE NEED TO WALK THE EXTRA 10 KM OF JEEP TRACK IN THE RESERVE. OTHER HIKING ROUTES IN THE RESERVE CAN BE EXPLORED UNTIL THE ROAD RE-OPENS IN SEPTEMBER 2026.
