On this trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and towards Horombo Hut before returning to Mandara for lunch and then hiking back. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn't a "must do", and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent. All trekking inside of the Tanzania National Park require the services of a certified Kilimanjaro guide, and the Marangu route is the only route where short treks are allowed. For an overnight hike you will stay at the park huts.

1 Day Tarangire National Park
‘The Elephant Playground,’ as Tarangire is sometimes called, provides a spectacular destination for a memorable day-trip. Huge herds of elephant are a distinctive feature of Tarangire, but the grassland, swamps and floodplains found here are home to big cats, giraffe, baboons and hippo – plus many, many more species. Tree-climbing lions and rock pythons are other local specialities. This trip starts by giving you a taste of hiking on Kilimanjaro on a day trek. The Marangu Route of Kilimanjaro is the most popular route up the mountain. Whilst the full ascent of Kilimanjaro takes at least five days, in one day you can have a taster of the trail, trekking from Marangu village on the southeastern side of the mountain to the Mandara Huts – huts where trekkers going all the way up would sleep for the night. Your day trek is a steady and gentle climb up through rainforest, climbing from 1,970m to an altitude of 2,700m. The full trek takes around six or seven hours, there and back.
