This program travels the scenic Machame Route, with some game-viewing and bird watching opportunities along the first days’ paths. Then it's up across the Shira Plateau through the Grand Baranco Canyon and on to the top. If all goes as planned, you’ll reach Stella Point at dawn, with a chance to continue around Kibo’s rim to the summit, Uhuru Peak.

The Machame route is a strenuous, but not technical, climb and no mountain-climbing experience is necessary. But there’s no avoiding the steep ascents and high altitudes that make robust physical fitness (and a minimum age of 14 years) a prerequisite for this trip.

4 Days Mount Meru Climb
Mt. Meru which is Tanzania’s second highest mountain standing tall at 4,566m. It is located in Arusha National Park and offers some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife diversity of any mountain in Tanzania. Mt. Meru is a challenging trek due to its steepness, but is a great way to acclimattize before attempting Mt. Kilimanjaro. Climbers are accompanied by an armed ranger due to the abundance of wildlife on the lower slopes. Mt. Meru also has some historical significance to it whereby some have suggested that it was the resting place of Noah’s Ark when it came to rest after the biblical flood receded. Mt. Meru is a great trekking option for those who want to take on a climbing challenge and get the sense of being out in the wild, but are not quite ready to tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro.

8 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing Lemosho Route
The Lemosho Route is often considered the most beautiful of all the trekking trails up Mount Kilimanjaro. It crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower.
You get an extra day to acclimatize on Mount Kilimanjaro if you choose the 8-day Lemosho route plan. The Londorossi gate serves as the starting point for this 8-day Mount Kilimanjaro package for hiking the mountain through the Lemosho Route. The Mweka Route is used for the descent.
You will be picked up from airport. From there you will go to the hotel in Moshi for an orientation on your trek. Your guides will be there to provide you with details on your trek and will also check your trekking gears.

6 – Days Kilimanjaro Trek – Machame Route
THE SHORT MACHAME ROUTE VARIATION
Below is the day by day itinerary for the 6 day Machame climb on Mount Kilimanjaro.
For those who only have six days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six day routes, the Machame route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (day three) which kickstarts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses.
The six day Machame variation is a difficult route. In particular, day four combined with day five makes for a very hard schedule. Day four is a full day of hiking from Barranco to Barafu. Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit day begins around midnight. The 6 day Machame route requires 19-24 hours of demanding walking, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep.

6 Day Private Kilimanjaro Climbing Via Umbwe Route
This route is the steepest with the shortest and most direct routes to the Southern Glaciers, Western Breach and Uhuru Peak. It is probably the most scenic, non-technical route on Kilimanjaro. However it is quite taxing, primarily due to the relatively fast ascent to higher altitude, but the rewards are plentiful. Very steep route best suited to experienced trekkers.
