Tokyo: Samurai Sword Academy in the Hometown of the Last Samurai
Tennen Rishin-ryu swordsmanship, which began in the Edo period, has been carried on to this day, and students of Tennen Rishin-ryu practice at the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo to hone their swordsmanship skills. You can learn the essence of Tennen Rishin-ryu at the actual dojo.
The swordsmen who practiced the Tennen Rishin-ryu in Hino City formed the Shinsengumi, said to be the strongest group of swordsmen, at the end of the Edo period and were known as the Last Samurai. You can feel the history and culture of the Last samurai by experiencing swordsmanship in Hino City, the hometown of the Shinsengumi.
Masao Inoue, the chairman of the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo and a descendant of the Shinsengumi executive Genzaburo Inoue, will lead the experience program.

Osaka castle grounds are said to be one of the most spiritually active areas in the whole prefecture. Join our experienced guide and storyteller for an evening or daytime stroll, learn about the castle’s history as well as the many ghosts that are said to haunt the area. Our guide will take you on a historical journey through the life of Osaka castle and the many spirits that dwell within. Warrior monks, cursed stones, vengeful spirits and mythical Yokai are just some of the tales you will hear on the tour. You will also hear about battles, sieges and the famous Samurai who shaped the course of Japanese history and changed the country forever!
Hike Japan Heritage Hakone Hachiri (Half Day)
You will hike 2-3 hours along the old Tokaido highway some on cobbled paths and some on forest trails between Hakone Yumoto and Lake Ashi. Some part of this path is off-the-beaten track and we normally have the forest for ourselves. This part of the Hachiri has the best preserved cobbled path and more primitive forests. You will hike past the wood crafting village of Hakone - Hatajuku and we skip the steepest part of the trail by bus and reach a teahouse that has a history of 400 years. After an energising amasake, we will continue our hike to Lake Ashi where if you are lucky, you can have a picture with Mt Fuji and the lake view. The Hakone checkpoint is our last stop where you will understand the significance of Hakone in the history of Japan. At the end of the tour, you can then catch a bus or a ferry (pirate ship) to your next destination at around 1pm.
Nakasendo Magome & Tsumago in 1 Day with Licensed Guide

Nakasendo was one of the two highways during the Edo period connecting Tokyo with Kyoto, running through the Kiso Valley. Some of those post towns have been well preserved and show tourists today exactly what Japan was like hundreds of years ago.
