This is a short 2-hour tour that takes visitors through the foothills of the majestic Mount Meru. It offers an authentic glimpse of daily life in the small, charming villages found on the outskirts of Arusha city center. This trip starts by giving you a taste of hiking on Kilimanjaro on a day trek. The Marangu Route of Kilimanjaro is the most popular route up the mountain. Whilst the full ascent of Kilimanjaro takes at least five days, in one day you can have a taster of the trail, trekking from Marangu village on the southeastern side of the mountain to the Mandara Huts – huts where trekkers going all the way up would sleep for the night. Your day trek is a steady and gentle climb up through rainforest, climbing from 1,970m to an altitude of 2,700m. The full trek takes around six or seven hours, there and back.

6Days _Hiking _Machame _Route _Kimanajaro _Mountain
Climbing Kilimanjaro via Machame is very scenic but slightly challenging. Often called the Whiskey Route this is a scenically beautiful trail, longer and much gentler than Umbwe or Marangu. Despite being a tough climb compared to the Marangu route, the Machame route has one of the highest summit success rates given the topography of the route which allows climbers to “trek high & sleep low” hence making it a more favorable route for acclimatization. This hike takes 7 Days although an extra day at Shira or Karanga valley is recommended for better acclimation. This route is much quiter route as opposed to Marangu and involves a rather gradual ascent unlike that on Umbwe Route. The walking is rather tiring. However, our itinerary is designed to provide valuable acclimatization by having shorter walking days during the trek.
